FAQ's

1) How do I get the user credentials for the backbone?
Ans: The backbone credentials are issued based on email requests from the department head. You may also request credentials using the issue tracker. We will take action based on your work profile.

2) How do I get the attendance report?
Ans: Student related data can be accessed from the student portal. 

3) How to get a Wi-Fi account?
Ans: Please visit the IT Department with your ID Card and request user credentials for a Wi-Fi account.

4) How do I reset the Wi-Fi account password?
Ans:
For security reasons, you have to visit IT Department along with your student ID card. An only authorised user can reset their credentials.

5) There are many access points detected by my laptop; which one to connect?
Ans:
Generally, you can connect to any access point with the name starting as “Yen-Net”. However, it’s advised to connect to an access point with maximum signal strength.

6) I want to connect to the hospital information system using Wi-Fi; which access point I       should connect to?
Ans:
To connect to the hospital information system, you have to connect to the access point with the name starting as “Backbone”. Only authorised users can connect to the backbone system. 

7) How to get the official mail address?
Ans:
If you are an employee of the university, then the request may be raised by the head of the Department for the same. 
For students, the official email accounts are created automatically during the student induction program. If you don’t have your credentials, please visit IT Department with your ID card. 

8) Procedure to register the laptop complaints?
Ans:
The first step is to visit the IT department between 2 and 5 PM along with your laptop. Technicians will check and take appropriate action. If repair services are required, complaint registration will be done at the IT Department. Only laptops under warrantee will be repaired; however, as a courtesy, we will check and try to fix or suggest a resolution for your problem.

9) How to register for Yengage?
Ans:
Access Yengage from https://yengage.yenepoya.edu.in/
Register for a new account. If you are a student, please use the user name as YU<CampusID>. That is, if your campus ID is 12345, create a user ID as YU12345. Once you register, the activation of the account will take about 24 hrs for the verification process. Once your account is activated, you will be notified by the registered email.
For staff, the same registration process as above is required; however user name should be YU.<FirstName>.<LastName> For example, if your name is Ramesh Kumar, your user name will be YU.Ramesh.Kumar

10) If my ID card is damaged, how do I get it replaced?
Ans:
If the ID card is damaged, you have to bring it over to IT Department for replacement. 

11) My ID card is lost; how do I get it replaced?
Ans:
If you lost your ID card, a new card will be issued after you pay the card replacement cost. Please check with the accounting department for more information.

12) How do I reset the Official mail account password
Ans:
If you have secured your email account with your mobile number, then you will be able to reset it yourself. If not, you have to visit the IT department along with your ID card.

13) Whether I can use Wi-Fi with multiple devices?
Ans:
No, any user account can access Yen-Net Wi-Fi services only on one device at a time. However, you can disconnect from one device and connect from the second device.

14) I am getting a message “Maximum login limit” while connecting to Yen-Net. What should I do?
Ans:
This happens when you forget to log off from Wi-Fi and try to connect to Wi-Fi from another device or location. You have to wait for 15 minutes, during which your account should be reset for reconnection. If you can still not connect, please call the IT helpdesk.

15) How do I get My academic user credentials
Ans:
My academic user credentials are created based on an email request from the head of the Department.

16) What is ‘Student Portal’, and how do I access it?
Ans:
The student portal is accessible to all students and the parents from this URL https://student.yenepoya.edu.in/
Students can register using the campus ID. The verification email will be automatically sent to the student’s official email account. After the verification, you will be able to access the student portal.
The parent can register using the campus ID of the student. The verification email will be automatically sent to the parent’s personal email account registered at the time of admission. After the verification, you will be able to access the student portal.
The student portal will give access to students’ academic data along with results, attendance and financial records. You can also pay your fees online. More Information

17) I just joined Yenepoya as a staff. How do I register for the biometric attendance system?
Ans:
Biometric attendance system registration is mandatory for all staff at the university. You must visit IT Department along with the datasheet issued from the HR department. Based on the verification, your biometric data will be set up.

18) I just joined Yenepoya as a student. How do I register for the biometric attendance system?
Ans:
Biometric attendance system registration is done during the student induction program.

19) Procedure to obtain ‘No Dues’ for students and staff.
Ans:
You will have to visit IT Department along with the no dues form and the ID card.

20) How do I get the assessment report?
Ans
: The internal assessment report is sent automatically to student and parent registered email addresses on the first week of every month. Kindly check your spam/junk email folder if you did not find the email. For assistance contact IT Department by email.

21) My smartphone does not connect to the university Wi-Fi network, but my laptop connects; what should I do?
Ans:
The Yen-Net is designed to be connected to all laptops issued by the university. Most modern smartphones do connect to Wi-Fi services without a problem. However, we can not support devices that are not issued by the university because of security and compatibility issues. Please do inform IT Department if your device is not able to connect.

22) My data on my device was lost as my hard drive crashed. Can you recover my  data?
Ans:
No, we don’t provide any data recovery services at IT. It’s your responsibility to perform the backups of your data.

23) I have attended the offline class with biometric attendance, but it’s reported as absent what should I do?
Ans:
Please visit the IT department immediately.

24) I have attended the online class, but my attendance shows as absent what I  should do?
Ans:
Please contact the concerned department staff immediately.

25) I am not able to get an educational website on-campus Wi-Fi; it is reported as “Shopping”      what should I do?
Ans:
Please email the URL of the website you are trying to connect to the IT Department. We will check and authorise it if found safe to do so.

26) My social media account got hacked; how can I recover my account?
Ans:
We don’t provide any help regarding personal social media account recovery issues.

27) I lost my money in my bag, but my bag was placed in the range of CCTV; how can I check the CCTV footage?
Ans: 
Immediately contact the security personnel with the complaint. Based on the recommendation from the security officer, we will allow you to see the CCTV footage.

28) I want to buy a new laptop from the market can you help me?
Ans:
We don’t offer any services concerning the purchase of any IT equipment. However, we might suggest a solution based on your requirement as a courtesy.

29) I want to get my academic/exam schedule; where can I get it?
Ans:
Go to the menu ‘Examination’ under the website of the institute you are enrolled with. You will find the timetable as a file as well as a subscribable online calendar.
 
30) Where do I get my examination results?
Ans:
Please check the FAQ on “Student Portal.”

31) How do I register for the student portal?
Ans:

  • Click Register to register for your account. Enter your wards Campus ID, new password and confirmation password, then click Register. Make sure to click parent while registering.
  • The portal sends a verification email to your personal email address which is in our records.
  • Check your email account for an email from the portal with the link to verify; click that link to activate your account. If you did not find an email, please check in your junk/spam folder.
  • Go to the portal again and sign it with your ward's campus ID and password. Make sure to log in as a parent.

32) I am a parent how can I access the student portal?
Ans:
You may access the portal from the URL https://student.yenepoya.edu.in/
