White Coat Ceremony and Cultural Day Celebration at Yenepoya Medical College Mangalore,

Yenepoya Medical College (YMC) held its Annual White Coat Ceremony, a cherished rite of passage for medical students as they embark on their professional journey, followed by an Ethnic and Cultural Day celebration .

The event commenced. with an invocation, setting a respectful and hopeful tone for the day. Dr. Abhay Nirgude, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, warmly welcomed attendees, reflecting on the significance of the White Coat Ceremony in the lives of medical students.

The lamp-lighting ceremony, a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment, was conducted by all the dignitaries, followed by an address by the Principal, Dr. M.S. Moosabba, who provided an insightful overview of Yenepoya Medical College.

Dr. Meera Jacob and Dr. Qudusia Sultana then introduced the esteemed chief guest and guests of honor. Dr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Honourable Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Dr.M Vijayakumar Vicechancellor Dr. K.S. Gangadhara Somayaji, Registrar of Yenepoya University, and Dr. Ajil Abullla, Director of Lailas Health Care LTD, alumni 1999 batch student shared words of encouragement with the students. A special moment came when a distinguished alumnus from the 1999 batch shared words of encouragement, reminiscing about their journey and encouraging students to embrace both the challenges and rewards of the profession. Their words left a lasting impact on the students, who are just beginning their own paths in healthcare.

Honorable Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Dr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi addressed the gathering with a powerful speech, emphasizing the profound responsibilities and ethical commitments that come with entering the medical profession. He spoke about the trust patients place in doctors and the duty of future physicians to uphold compassion, integrity, and dedication in every aspect of their work. He reminded the students that wearing the white coat signifies not just medical knowledge but also an unwavering commitment to ethical practice, patient care, and lifelong learning. His words served as an inspiring reminder of the honor and duty inherent in the medical field, resonating deeply with the students and setting a guiding standard for their careers ahead.

The symbolic donning of the white coats took place, marking the students' formal induction into the medical community. Following this, Dr. Habib Rahaman A.A., Medical Superintendent, led the administration of Charaka's oath, reinforcing the values of compassion and care in the students' medical journey.

A speech by a parent of a first-year MBBS student added a personal touch, emphasizing family pride and support. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prakash Saldanha, Vice Principal, and the national anthem followed with Ethnic and Cultural Day, celebrating the diverse backgrounds of the student body through music, dance, and traditional attire.The event was a memorable day of commitment, community, and culture for Yenepoya Medical College.
